Membership Agreement
Membership Acceptance
By submitting a membership application and paying the applicable dues, I apply to become a member of the South Asian Bar Association of Florida, Inc. (“SABA Florida”), a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization. I understand that membership is subject to approval or revocation by the Board of Directors, in accordance with the SABA Florida Bylaws (and its amendments).
Term & Renewal
- Term: Membership is valid for one year from July 1 to June 30 each calendar year (akin to the Florida Bar annual dues membership cycle), or otherwise depending on a new membership cycle established by the Board.
- Renewal: Membership must be renewed annually by paying the then-current dues. Failure to renew may result in the suspension of membership benefits.
Membership Benefits
As a member in good standing, I am entitled to benefits that may include:
- Discounted, subsidized, or free admission to SABA Florida CLEs, networking mixers, and any Gala(s) that may be (co-)hosted and/or (co-)sponsored from time to time.
- Inclusion in the SABA Florida Membership Directory.
- Eligibility to join committees and run for Board positions (subject to Bylaw requirements).
- Affiliation with SABA North America.
Member Code of Conduct
I agree to:
- Uphold the professional standards and reputation of SABA Florida.
- Treat fellow members, guests, and staff with respect and professionalism at all SABA Florida events and forums.
- Not use SABA Florida membership lists or directories for mass solicitation, commercial marketing, or spamming purposes without express Board approval.
- Abide by this Membership Agreement, the SABA Florida Bylaws as they pertain and are applicable to non-Board Members of SABA Florida, and any other policies adopted by the Board.
Photo & Media Release
I grant SABA Florida permission to use my name, likeness, and image in photographs or videos taken at SABA Florida events for use in newsletters, the website, social media, and other promotional materials. If I wish to opt out of specific images, I will notify SABA Florida in writing.
Limitation of Liability
I acknowledge that participation in SABA Florida activities is voluntary. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release SABA Florida, its officers, directors, advisors, consultants, and volunteers from any liability, claims, or damages arising out of my participation in SABA Florida events or activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Termination of Membership
SABA Florida reserves the right to revoke membership for conduct detrimental to the organization or for violation of this Agreement or the Bylaws, following the due process procedures outlined in the Bylaws. Membership dues are non-refundable upon termination or resignation.
